Workplace culture at Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL) covers the company's workforce, employee welfare, training and the festivals and events celebrated at its units. The workforce grew from about 2,800 people in 2017 to more than 5,500 by 2026, making the company a significant employer in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.[1][3]

Workforce

In 2017 the company had close to 2,800 people on its rolls. Managing Director V. Sudhakar Chowdary said then that the jobs it had created were "something that gives us great satisfaction".[1] By 2022 the workforce had reached about 5,500, of whom 45% were women.[2] A 2026 profile again put employment at over 5,500 across the spinning, weaving, processing and home-textile operations.[3]

Welfare and retention

Finding and keeping enough workers is a recognised problem in the Indian textile industry. In 2017 Chowdary identified it as a challenge for the company and described the steps taken to address it:[1]

  • free transport – pick-up and drop for employees living within a radius of about 30 km of the manufacturing units;
  • a subsidised canteen;
  • quality systems and practices intended to build workers' skills, which he said also helped the company retain staff.

Other facilities recorded in the company's photo archive include a bank ATM opened at Unit 2 in 2017 and health camps held in 2018.[4][5]

Training and development

According to President – Operations Venigalla Leela Krishna, the company relies on "trained teams, clear protocols, and continuous upskilling" from cotton selection through to sewing.[3] Recorded programmes include:

  • Skills training for workers at Unit 2 (2015)[6]
  • An interactive session with the Commissioner of Labour (2016)[7]
  • Yoga training (2017)[8]
  • Smoking cessation awareness for employees (2017)[9]
  • LEAD (Leadership Excellence & Development), a two-day programme with sessions, group activities and team exercises (2026)[10]

The company also hosts educational visits by school students and by MBA students (both 2018).[11][12]

Religious ceremonies such as bhoomi puja mark the start of new construction, and pujas are held when new machinery is commissioned.[14] In 2023 an idol of Vallabha Ganapathi was installed at Unit 4.[15]
