Spinning division
The spinning division of Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL) converts cotton and other fibres into yarn. It is the company's original business: MSIL began commercial production in October 2006 as a spinning mill with 14,400 spindles.[1] The division now operates 1,21,488 ring spindles, 6,272 open-end rotors and 4,800 two-for-one twisting drums, producing more than 2,500 tonnes of yarn a month.[2]

Yarn from the division supplies the company's own weaving division and is also sold to other fabric and garment manufacturers.[2]
Process
Spinning proceeds through a sequence of stages:
- Blowroom – bales are opened, cleaned and blended.
- Carding – fibres are separated and formed into a sliver.
- Drawing – several slivers are combined to even out thickness.
- Combing – optional; removes short fibres for finer, stronger yarn.
- Roving – sliver is drafted and lightly twisted.
- Ring spinning – roving is drafted to final count and twisted into yarn.
- Winding – yarn is wound onto cones while electronic clearers remove faults.
- Twisting – singles are plied together on TFO machines where required.
In 2022 the division's ring spindles were reported to use compact spinning throughout, a technique that produces stronger, less hairy yarn.[1]
Products
The division produces compact, combed, carded, blended, open-end and plied yarns, in 100% cotton and in blends with polyester, viscose, modal, linen and lyocell.[1][2]
Quality control
Yarn is tested for evenness, imperfections, hairiness and strength using equipment from Uster Technologies and SDL. Uster's published benchmarks allow buyers to compare yarn quality between mills.[2]
