Vallabhaneni Sudhakar Chowdary, commonly V. Sudhakar Chowdary, is an Indian industrialist and cooperative leader. He is the founder and Managing Director of Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL), a vertically integrated textile manufacturer based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.[4][5]
In September 2025 he was elected unopposed as Chairman of Krishak Bharati Cooperative (KRIBHCO), one of India's largest fertiliser cooperatives, having previously served as its Vice Chairman.[3][5]
Early life
Chowdary graduated in production engineering and then joined his family's business, a fertiliser distribution company; his father looked after the family's other venture, tobacco cultivation.[1] He ran the distribution business until 2004. By his own account its turnover grew from about ₹60 lakh in 1992 to about ₹70 crore by 2004, and he remained involved in it until 2008, by which time his attention had turned to textiles.[1]
Career
Mohan Spintex India Limited
Chowdary has said that his move from trading into manufacturing came from dissatisfaction with running "still a trading business". In 2005 he and a colleague were considering a steel venture, such as re-rolling or a blast furnace, when a chance meeting with a friend already in the textile industry turned them towards spinning. Policy changes of the time, such as the abolition of excise duty, made the sector attractive. After a meeting in March 2005 they decided to go ahead within the month, and he dates the birth of Mohan Spintex to 7 April 2005.[1] The company was incorporated on 11 May 2005.[6][7]
Commercial production began in October 2006 at Unit 1 in Vattigudipadu with 14,400 spindles.[1][4] He then expanded the company in phases: a second phase took Unit 1 to 30,000 spindles by April 2008, and a 40,000-spindle project proposed to its bankers in August 2009 was approved under the government's "mega project" scheme for investments above ₹100 crore, becoming Unit 2.[1] Explaining the later move into weaving, he said that "until and unless you reach the end of the finished product then your total system is not complete".[1]
Under his leadership the company expanded from a single spinning mill into a vertically integrated group covering spinning, weaving, fabric processing and home textiles, with units at Remalle and Mallavalli.[4] By 2022 the company employed about 5,500 people, 45% of them women, and had reported sales above ₹1,000 crore for the 2021–22 financial year.[4] The Textile Magazine described him as a "young and dynamic entrepreneur" who had built the company into one of India's fastest-growing textile manufacturers.[4]
In 2022 the company set revenue targets of ₹2,000 crore by 2025 and ₹5,000 crore by 2030, following investment of ₹400 crore between 2018 and 2020.[4] In January 2026 The Textile Magazine reported that his children, V. Suhruth Chowdary and Keyura, had become involved in the company as directors, marking a generational transition with emphasis on digitalisation, analytics and modern management systems.[8] The magazine quoted him as saying that "Mohan Spintex was not created merely to manufacture products; it was created to build trust".[8]
Cooperative movement
Chowdary has been active in India's cooperative movement. He served as Vice Chairman of KRIBHCO before being elected its Chairman in September 2025. Both top posts drew single nominations, and Chandra Pal Singh Yadav was elected Vice Chairman in the same election.[3][5]

- 2017 – Cover story in The Textile Magazine (February 2017), which described Mohan Spintex as "India's fastest growing textile manufacturer".[1]
- 2017 – Business Leader Award.[2]
- At the India ITME textile machinery exhibition in Mumbai, the German maker Spindelfabrik Suessen presented him with its 10-millionth EliTe compact spinning spindle. Mohan Spintex was then running more than 55,000 of them.[10]
Writing in 2017, Suessen's joint managing director Peter Stahlecker described him as "very polite, soft spoken and extremely well informed" and "a firm, but very fair negotiator".[10]
