The processing division of Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL) turns greige fabric from the weaving division into finished fabric by bleaching, dyeing, printing and finishing it. Its continuous processing ranges have a capacity of about 1,00,000 metres a day.[1][2]
Processing is where fabric gains most of its commercial value – colour, handle and performance finishes – and it is also the most water-, chemical- and energy-intensive stage of textile manufacture. For this reason it is central to the company's environmental programme.[3]
Process

Environmental controls
The division's effluent is treated in a zero liquid discharge–oriented plant that recovers 98% of process water for reuse, and its steam is generated from rice husk rather than coal.[3] Chemical inputs are managed in line with the company's Detox commitment and OEKO-TEX restricted-substance requirements.[1]
Global home-textile buyers typically audit processing first, because restricted chemicals, effluent and water use are concentrated there.
