Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL) sells products at four points in its vertically integrated production chain: yarn, greige fabric, finished fabric and finished home textiles. It also offers cut, make and trim services, and sells home textiles in India under its own brand, Astara.[1][2]
Yarn
MSIL produces more than 2,500 tonnes of yarn a month.[1]
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Compact | Ring-spun yarn condensed before twisting; stronger and less hairy |
| Combed | Short fibres removed by combing; finer and smoother |
| Carded | Ring-spun without combing; general-purpose |
| Blended | Cotton with polyester, viscose, modal, linen or lyocell[2] |
| Open-end | Rotor-spun; bulkier, coarser counts |
| Plied | Two or more singles twisted together on TFO machines |
Yarn is specified by count, ply, fibre and process – for example 40s/2 100% combed compact cotton.
Fibre programmes
Marks published by the company include Supima, Cotton Egypt, Tencel and Birla fibres, together with the Better Cotton, GOTS and GRS programmes.[1] These are licensed programmes; use of their names on a given order depends on current licences and chain-of-custody records.[confirmation needed]
Fabric
MSIL weaves about 15,00,000 metres of fabric a month on 324 air-jet looms and processes about 1,00,000 metres a day.[1] Fabric is sold in two conditions:
- Greige fabric – woven but not wet-processed, for customers with their own processing.
- Finished fabric – bleached, dyed or printed and finished, ready to cut.
Constructions include percale, sateen, twill, damask, dobby and jacquard.[2]
Home textiles

The company makes sheets, sheet sets, pillowcases, duvet covers, quilts and comforters, with thread counts of up to 1,400.[2]
Services
- Cut, make and trim – production to a customer's own design and specification.[1]
